Zenco Plumbing is available for plumbing emergencies across Northern Michigan. We're not a 24/7 dispatch center — we're a local, owner-operated plumbing business — but when something goes wrong and you need help, call us. We'll do our best to get to you as quickly as we can.
What Counts as an Emergency
- Burst or ruptured pipes actively releasing water
- Major leaks that can't be controlled by shutting off a fixture valve
- No hot water in the middle of winter
- Sewage backup or ejector pump failure
- Loss of all water pressure to the home
- Flooding from a failed sump pump during a storm
What to Do While You Wait
If you have a major leak or burst pipe, the first thing to do is shut off the main water supply to the house. Your main shutoff is typically near the water meter — in the basement, crawl space, or utility room. Turning it off stops the flow and limits damage while help is on the way. If you're not sure where your shutoff is, that's worth knowing before an emergency happens.
For sewage backups, stop using all fixtures immediately — running water into a backed-up drain will make things worse. Keep the area clear and wait for us to assess and clear the blockage.
Northern Michigan Winters
Frozen and burst pipes are a reality in Northern Michigan, particularly in older homes with poor insulation, vacant cabins, or plumbing in unheated spaces. If you're heading out of town in winter, make sure your heat is maintained at a minimum of 55°F and your most exposed pipes are protected. If you come home to no water pressure after a cold snap, call us — a frozen pipe that hasn't burst yet can often be thawed safely, but time matters.
