Pipe Repair & Replacement
Zenco Plumbing · Northern Michigan
Pipes don't last forever. Whether you're dealing with a burst pipe, a pinhole leak in old copper, or corroding galvanized supply lines that are slowly failing, Zenco Plumbing handles pipe repair and replacement throughout Northern Michigan — from a single section fix to a full re-pipe of an older home.
Signs Your Pipes Are Failing
- Discolored water — rust-orange from galvanized, blue-green staining from corroding copper
- Reduced water pressure throughout the house
- Visible corrosion or mineral buildup on exposed pipes
- Frequent small leaks at joints and fittings
- Water stains on walls, ceilings, or floors with no obvious source
- Pipes that are 40–50+ years old (galvanized steel has a finite lifespan)
Burst Pipe Repair
A burst pipe is an emergency. Turn off your main water shutoff immediately to stop the flow, then call us. We'll locate the break, cut out the damaged section, and install a proper repair — not a temporary patch. Most burst pipe repairs can be completed in a few hours once we're on-site and have access to the affected area.
Galvanized Pipe Replacement
Galvanized steel pipe was commonly used in homes built before the 1960s. It was a solid material at the time, but galvanized pipe corrodes from the inside out. The rust buildup restricts flow, reduces pressure, and eventually creates pinhole leaks and full failures. If your home still has galvanized supply lines, replacement isn't a matter of if — it's when. We can replace galvanized runs with modern copper or PEX, restoring full flow and eliminating a ticking clock.
Copper Pipe Repair
Copper is a quality material, but it's not immune to failure. Pinhole leaks in copper are often caused by aggressive well water chemistry — slightly acidic water slowly eats through the pipe wall from the inside. If you're seeing multiple pinhole leaks over time, the issue is systemic, and patching one at a time is a losing game. We can assess the scope of the problem and recommend targeted repair or a broader solution depending on what your system looks like.
Re-Piping Older Homes
When a home's supply plumbing is at the end of its useful life, re-piping is the right answer. We re-pipe using PEX tubing — flexible, freeze-resistant, and much faster to install than rigid pipe. PEX is now the preferred material for residential re-pipes because it handles the expansion and contraction of Northern Michigan's temperature swings better than copper and is not susceptible to the same corrosion issues as older metals.
We'll give you an honest assessment of what your home needs and provide a clear scope before any work starts. Zenco Plumbing has been doing this work in Northern Michigan since 2011 — licensed, insured, and straightforward.
